The Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo (CMK) Foundation Scholarship is available for undergraduate students who wish to participate in an exchange program at a university in South Korea for one academic year (11 months).
Program Information

Duration: From August 2025 to June 2026 (11 months, including the Fall semester, a short Winter session, and the Spring semester).

Location: Students will study at one of four universities in South Korea: Seoul National University, Korea University, Yonsei University, or Hanyang University. The CMK Foundation will conduct interviews to determine the most suitable university for each student.

Scholarship Benefits:
- Full tuition waiver at the host university in South Korea.
- A monthly stipend of 1,000,000 KRW for living expenses.
- A one-time grant of 2,500,000 KRW for airfare and accommodation (students must arrange and pay for their own flight tickets and housing).

Number of Scholarships: The Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) will nominate up to 10 students for the CMK Foundation, which will then review the applications and select 5 students for the program.
Eligibility Criteria

General Requirements:
- Must be a Vietnamese national currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at International University (IU-VNU).
- Must have completed at least two semesters at the time of application (including Advanced English 1 & 2, Calculus 1 & 2 (or Maths for Business)).
- Must not have completed the graduation thesis and must not plan to complete it between the second semester of the 2024-2025 academic year and the end of the 2025-2026 academic year.
Ineligible applicants:
- Students from cohorts K21 or earlier.
- Students in joint programs who are scheduled to transfer to a partner university abroad.
- Students in the UWE 4+0 joint program who have entered the Top-up stage.

Academic Performance:
- Must have a GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 (students must provide an official transcript issued by IU-VNU).

- (1) Business Administration and Economics
- (2) Future Industry-related fields: Environmental Engineering, New Energy, Artificial Intelligence, Biomedical Science, Health Sciences, etc.
- (3) Korean Studies and Korean Research
- (4) Politics and Public Policy

Language Requirements:
- English: IELTS 6.5 or higher / TOEFL iBT 79 or higher
- Korean: TOPIK Level 4 or higher
Required Documents
Applicants must submit one Vietnamese version and one English version of each document:
- Scanned copy of the passport’s information page (valid for at least 12 months after completing the exchange program in South Korea).
- Official academic transcript (scale 4.0) issued by IU-VNU.
- Recommendation letter from IU-VNU (this will be automatically issued for students nominated for VNU-HCM).
- Supporting documents: Language proficiency certificates, awards, work experience, etc.
Application Process
Step 1: Applicants must submit their application via email to the Center for International Education Exchange (CIEE) – Office of External Relations at cim@hcmiu.edu.vn with the subject [CMK 25-26] Full Name – Student ID by 1:00 PM on February 20, 2025 (Thursday).
Important Notes:
- Each document must be submitted in both English and Vietnamese (or bilingual format).
- The recommendation letter will be issued in both English and Vietnamese for nominated students.
- Applicants must name their documents in the format:
Full Name – Student ID – Document Type
(Example: Nguyen Van A – BABAIU24001 – Transcript of record (Scale 4)).
Step 2: IU-VNU will review and evaluate applications and nominate the most qualified candidates for VNU-HCM.
Step 3: VNU-HCM will select 10 outstanding applicants from all nominations submitted by 8 member universities and recommend them to the CMK Foundation.
Step 4: The 10 nominated students will submit their online applications to the CMK Foundation at:

Step 5: The CMK Foundation will select the final scholarship recipients and match them with one of the four partner universities in South Korea.
Step 6: VNU-HCM will notify IU-VNU about the final selection results.
Step 7: The CMK Foundation will contact the selected students to provide guidance on scholarship acceptance, program participation, and related procedures.
Step 8: Selected students will work with IU-VNU, the host university in Korea, and the CMK Foundation to complete the necessary paperwork and participate in the exchange program.
